We handle the technical patterns, precision sewing, and garment-dye finishing in our Los Angeles facility, allowing you to launch an original collection that rivals the world's leading luxury basic labels. Built for brands investing in real production — not blank apparel, stock garments, or one-off projects.

Private Label vs. White Label — What Is the Difference?

Private label is exclusive to your brand — your patterns, fabrics, and colors developed specifically for you. White label is a ready-made product rebranded by multiple sellers. At Essentials Made we offer both — every piece is cut, sewn, and garment-dyed to order in Los Angeles using 100% cotton and ethical local production. Whether you call it private label or white label, the result is the same — a premium garment with your name on it, made in LA.

Private Label Clothing Manufacturer in Los Angeles — Serving Brands Across the USA

Essentials Made builds private label collections for independent brands, creators, and boutiques across the United States that are already selling and ready to invest in real production. As a private label apparel manufacturer and white label clothing manufacturer based in Downtown LA, we specialize in made-to-order essentialshoodies, tees, sweatpants, and crewnecks — all cut, sewn, and garment-dyed locally for speed, quality, and control. We ship finished garments to brands across the USA.

Custom-Developed Silhouettes — 100% Cotton Essentials Built for Your Brand

We don't pull from a dusty warehouse of generic blanks. Every garment is made to order, starting from our library of proven essential blocks — developed specifically for the oversized, boxy, and contemporary fits required by modern DTC labels.

Technical Standards for Private Label:

  • • Heavyweight 3-End Fleece — 360 GSM: Our core fabric for hoodies, crewnecks, and sweatpants. Knit-to-order from our LA fabric program for consistent reorders.
  • • High-Density 100% Cotton Jersey: Optimized for a premium hand-feel and superior garment-dye absorption for boxy oversized tees.
  • • Precision Pantone TCX Matching: Your collection is dyed in professional LA dye houses to your exact brand color identity.
  • • Reorderable Fabric Programs: We ensure your Season 2 restock matches the weight and texture of your launch run perfectly — same yarn, same program, every time.

Already have a signature fit? If you have a favorite hoodie or tee, send it to our Los Angeles studio. We use a Replica-First approach to recreate the pattern, adjust the specs, and make the silhouette exclusively yours. This is how you build a brand, not just a merch line. Private Label Production Tiers — Capsule, Growth, and Standard Runs

Our private label workflow is built for the pace of modern DTC brands — not outdated seasonal calendars. Start with a Capsule Run and scale into full collections as your brand grows.

Capsule Run — 72 units per style (2+ styles sharing fabric)

Our most popular starting tier. The standard for matching sets — hoodie + sweatpant sharing the same fabric and dye lot for exact color consistency. Starting at approximately $7,250 for a hoodie + sweatpant set.

$7,250 in → $17,000+ retail potential at sellout · Based on hoodie + sweatpant set at $176 retail per piece, sold DTC.

Growth Run — 150 units per style

Optimized for brands ready to improve margins and scale. Unit pricing improves significantly when multiple styles utilize the same fabric program. Starting at approximately $8,100 for a hoodie + sweatpant set.

$8,100 in → $51,000+ retail potential at sellout · Same retail price. Better margin per unit as cost drops with volume.

Standard 300-Piece Run — 300+ units per style

Full-scale production for established brands running active productions. Maximum stability and best cost-per-unit for large-scale programs. Contact for quote.

$102,000+ retail potential at sellout · Best cost-per-unit. Maximum margin per piece.

All tiers require a 50% deposit to begin. Pricing is tiered based on volume, construction, and fabric selection. Pattern development and sampling is a separate paid process before production.

Why small batch costs more: Every fabric is knit-to-order from our Los Angeles mill program — not sourced from closeout or deadstock rolls. This carries a fabric surcharge on smaller runs but guarantees your Season 2 reorder matches Season 1 exactly — same weight, same yarn, same hand feel. You are not comparing against blanks. You are investing in a custom garment built to your spec, in your color, with your label, made in Los Angeles.

How the Private Label Process Works

  1. Select your essentials — hoodies, crewnecks, sweatpants, or tees in your chosen fabric.
  2. Approve your garment-dyed sample — check fit, fabric, and Pantone color.
  3. Add branding details — woven or printed neck labels, embroidery, or custom packaging.
  4. Move into production — cut, sewn, and dyed in Los Angeles.

Typical timeline: 2 weeks for patterns and sample; 4–5 weeks for production after approval. Total: 6–7 weeks.

100% Cotton · Garment-Dyed · Made in Los Angeles — Shipped USA

We use only 100% cotton jerseys and fleece — polyester doesn't garment dye. Each piece is finished with enzyme and silicone washes for a soft, premium hand and rich, lived-in color. As a private label clothing manufacturer shipping across the USA, we deliver finished garments directly to your door wherever your brand is based. If you want consistency across reorders, it starts with choosing a fabric program built for garment-dyed production.

Branding & Finishing That Bring Your Line to Life

  • Woven or printed neck labels
  • Screen-printed or embroidered details
  • Custom trims, folding, and packaging

Every garment arrives retail-ready, reflecting your brand from first touch to final detail.

Why USA Brands Choose Essentials Made for Private Label and White Label Manufacturing

Every garment Essentials Made produces is built to retail at $100 minimum. A 100% cotton, garment-dyed hoodie made in Los Angeles is not a $40 blank — and should never be priced like one. The formula is retail = 4x your standard production cost. DTC and Instagram returned the full margin to your brand. Price your product accordingly and the math works in your favor at every production tier.

  • Local Los Angeles production — private label and white label programs serving the entire USA
  • Ethical Los Angeles manufacturing under California SB62 garment worker protections
  • Proprietary garment-dyed shrinkage engineering — consistent fit across every run
  • Garment-dyed quality with consistent color across reorders
  • Fast timelines and direct communication
  • Built for independent brands, creators, and boutiques already selling across the USA

FAQ — Clothing Manufacturers in Los Angeles & USA

Essentials Made is a clothing manufacturer in Los Angeles specializing in 100% cotton, garment-dyed essentials — hoodies, crewnecks, sweatpants, and tees — made to order for independent brands, creators, and boutiques across the USA. We are not a blank supplier. Every project is developed through custom cut and sew manufacturing with paid pattern development, garment-dyed sampling, and local LA production. We work best with brands that are already selling and ready to invest in real production.

We work with independent brands, creators, and boutique labels that are already selling clothing and ready to upgrade from blanks or overseas production. Our ideal client has an existing audience or buyer network, understands that LA manufacturing costs more than generic overseas production, and is investing in a real brand — not testing an idea. We are not the right fit for first-time founders with no audience, brands looking for the cheapest option, or projects focused on heavy decoration like rhinestones or sublimation prints.

Essentials Made offers three main production tiers. The Capsule Run is 50 pieces per style when two or more styles share the same fabric — ideal for matching sets like a hoodie and sweatpant in the same garment-dyed color. The Growth Run is 150 pieces per style for brands ready to improve margins and scale. The Collection Run is 300 or more pieces per style for established brands running active productions. All tiers require a 50% deposit to begin and include pattern development, garment-dyed sampling, cut and sew manufacturing, and QC in Los Angeles.

A Capsule Run is 50 pieces per style when two or more styles share the same fabric and dye lot — for example, a matching hoodie and sweatpant set in the same garment-dyed color. This is our most popular starting tier because it gives brands a cohesive collection with exact color consistency across styles, lower inventory exposure than a full collection run, and a foundation to validate demand before scaling. Most brands that reorder with us started with a Capsule Run.

Production costs depend on the tier, fabric, and number of styles. A Capsule Run starting at 50 pieces per style begins at approximately $3,500 per style when two or more styles share the same fabric program. A Growth Run at 150 pieces per style starts around $7,500 per style. A Collection Run at 300 or more pieces is quoted per project. All projects begin with paid pattern development and a garment-dyed pre-production sample before bulk manufacturing starts. A 50% deposit is required to begin any project.

Our Capsule Run starts at 50 pieces per style when two or more styles share the same fabric and dye lot. This is designed for brands producing matching sets or capsule collections. Our Growth Run starts at 150 pieces per style and our Collection Run at 300 or more pieces per style. All production requires paid pattern development and sample approval before bulk begins. Production timelines are approximately 2 weeks for patterns and samples, and 4 to 5 weeks for production after approval.

Yes — through our Pre-Sale Program. Instead of investing in inventory upfront, you sell your collection first and we produce after orders are confirmed. The process works like this: we develop your garment-dyed sample, you launch to your audience and collect pre-orders, then we move into production based on real demand. This model works for creators and brands that already have an engaged audience and can generate real orders before production begins. It is not for idea-stage brands with no existing following.

For brands building premium essentials with garment dyeing, Los Angeles production offers speed, quality control, and a Made in USA story that justifies higher retail pricing. Overseas production costs less per unit but adds 3 to 4 months of lead time, quality inconsistency, and limited flexibility for small-batch runs. Brands currently producing overseas often move to Essentials Made when they want faster turnarounds, consistent garment-dyed results, and the credibility of Made in Los Angeles on their label.

Many independent brands that started overseas are moving production to Los Angeles because of quality inconsistency, long lead times, communication barriers, and the inability to do small-batch garment-dyed runs. Essentials Made produces everything in Los Angeles with a total timeline of 6 to 7 weeks from pattern approval to delivery. Brands get real-time communication, consistent garment-dyed results, and a production partner that understands the DTC market.

All projects require a 50% deposit to begin. Pattern development and sampling is a separate paid process that happens before production. Once your pre-production sample is approved, we invoice the production run and require 50% to start cutting. The remaining 50% is due before delivery. We do not begin any work without a deposit. This structure protects both the brand and our production schedule.

We work exclusively with 100% cotton fabrics — heavyweight fleece at 360 GSM for hoodies and crewnecks, French terry for lighter-weight sweatshirts, and high-density jersey for tees. All fabrics are knit to order from our Los Angeles fabric program, which means the same yarn and weight is available for reorders. Polyester does not garment dye — we do not use it. This commitment to 100% cotton ensures consistent color saturation, softness, and quality across every run.

Garment dyeing means the finished garment is dyed after it is cut and sewn, creating a lived-in texture, tonal variation, and softness that piece-dyed fabric cannot replicate. The enzyme and silicone washes we use after dyeing add depth and premium hand feel. This process also creates natural color variation between pieces — a quality that premium brands use to justify higher retail pricing. Garment dyeing requires 100% cotton and is not possible with polyester or poly-cotton blends.

Pattern development and your pre-production sample take approximately 2 weeks after the project deposit is received. Production takes 4 to 5 weeks after sample approval and production deposit. Total timeline from project start to delivery is typically 6 to 7 weeks. Because all production happens in Los Angeles, brands nationwide get faster turnarounds and consistent quality without overseas delays.

Yes. Essentials Made is fully compliant with California SB62, which requires garment manufacturers to pay workers fairly and maintain transparent supply chains. All cutting, sewing, dyeing, and finishing happens within our Los Angeles network. Our 100% cotton fabrics are knit to order — we do not use deadstock or mystery stock. Brands that manufacture with us can accurately label their products as Made in Los Angeles and Made in USA.

Private label means the garment is developed exclusively for your brand — your patterns, your fabric, your colors, your labels. No other brand gets the same piece. White label means a generic garment is rebranded by multiple sellers. Essentials Made is a private label manufacturer. Every project starts from your specifications or a reference garment you provide. We replicate the fit, adjust proportions, develop the pattern, and produce exclusively for your brand in Los Angeles.

Yes — this is our most common starting point. Bring us a reference garment that represents your ideal fit and silhouette. We replicate the construction, fine-tune proportions for garment-dyed production, and build a master pattern with built-in shrinkage compensation for 100% cotton. This replica-first approach reduces development time, minimizes revisions, and ensures your production sample matches your vision from the first fitting.
