Show Me Your Mumu

Show Me Your Mumu is the creation of best friends Cammy Miller and Cologne Trude — a brand built around colorful, effortless pieces that feel at home from beach days to weddings. Their world is playful, easygoing, and built around clothes that keep up with real life. When an established brand like this chooses Essentials Made to produce their graphic tees, it is because the standard has to be right.

We have been producing garment-dyed graphic tees for Show Me Your Mumu since 2021 — 100% cotton, vintage-inspired washes, broken-in from day one. Our role is behind the scenes. Their brand stays in the front.

The Brand — Colorful, Effortless, Built for Real Life

Show Me Your Mumu is an established Los Angeles women's fashion and lifestyle brand with a loyal following and a clear identity — playful prints, easy silhouettes, and a brand energy that is consistently, recognizably theirs. When Cammy and Cologne needed a Los Angeles manufacturer for their garment-dyed graphic tees, the brief was specific: soft, premium 100% cotton with vintage-inspired washes that matched the effortless energy of everything else in the collection.

The tee is the most personal garment in any collection. It is what the customer reaches for on the easiest days and the hardest ones. A graphic tee that feels stiff, washes out after three cycles, or fits wrong undermines the brand story faster than any other piece. A garment-dyed 100% cotton tee that softens over time, holds its color through repeat washing, and fits consistently across the size run does the opposite — it becomes the piece the customer tells her friends about.

"Soft fabrics, consistent fits, and vintage-inspired washes that matched the energy of their collections."

Graphic tees on garment-dyed ground require a specific production sequence to achieve clean results. The garment is dyed first — color, washing, and finishing fully completed — before any print is applied. This sequence ensures the graphic registers cleanly on the finished, washed fabric without the dye process affecting the print medium. It also means the tee has already gone through its primary shrinkage cycle before the graphic is placed, so the print does not distort after the customer's first wash. This is the technical discipline that separates a well-made graphic tee from one that looks great on the rack and disappoints after the first laundering.

Supporting an Established Brand — What the Role Looks Like

Working with Show Me Your Mumu is different from working with an emerging brand. Cammy and Cologne know exactly what they want. The creative direction is clear. The brand standards are established. Our job is not to advise on aesthetics — it is to execute to the standard they require, consistently, without friction.

For an established brand, manufacturing reliability is the most valuable thing a production partner can offer. Show Me Your Mumu has a production calendar, a sales team, and retail partners with delivery windows. A late or inconsistent delivery is not an inconvenience — it is a business problem. Our Los Angeles production network and direct communication model exist specifically to eliminate that risk.

Show Me Your Mumu is the clearest example in our client roster of what Essentials Made looks like to an established brand — not the hero of the story, but the production partner that makes the hero look good. Our name does not appear on the label. The quality does. That is the role we are built for.

FAQ — Garment-Dyed Graphic Tees in Los Angeles

Can you produce garment-dyed tees with graphic prints for an established brand?

Yes — and this is exactly what we do for Show Me Your Mumu. The production sequence matters: the tee is garment-dyed and fully finished first, then the graphic is applied to the finished, washed fabric. This ensures the print registers cleanly, the tee has already gone through primary shrinkage, and the graphic will not distort after the customer's first wash. Graphics are coordinated through our trusted Los Angeles print partners and integrated into the production timeline.

Why does garment dyeing happen before the graphic is printed?

Two reasons. First — the dye process involves heat, water, and agitation that would distort or degrade most print mediums if applied before dyeing. Second — the tee undergoes its primary shrinkage during garment dyeing. If the graphic is applied before shrinkage occurs, the print will distort after the customer's first wash as the fabric contracts around it. Dyeing first, then printing, produces a graphic tee that looks as good after fifty washes as it did on day one.

What is the minimum order for garment-dyed graphic tees?

Tees run on a Launch Run starting at 50 pieces from approximately $30 per piece for lightweight or $37 per piece for heavyweight — $1,500 and $1,850 total respectively. For larger quantities, our Growth Run at 150 pieces brings the per-piece cost to $22 lightweight or $30 heavyweight. Pattern development for a tee starts at $600. All production requires a 50% deposit to begin.

Can Essentials Made support an established brand with existing production needs?

Yes — and Show Me Your Mumu since 2021 is the proof. Established brands have higher production standards, tighter delivery windows, and less tolerance for inconsistency than emerging brands. Our Los Angeles production network is built for exactly this level of reliability — direct communication, short timelines, and consistent quality across every run.

What makes a garment-dyed tee feel premium versus a standard dyed tee?

Three things work together. The fabric — 100% cotton PFD jersey absorbs reactive dye at the fiber level, producing color depth and tonal variation that synthetic blends cannot match. The wash — enzyme and silicone washes after dyeing produce a softness that feels broken-in from the first wear rather than stiff and new. And the aging — garment-dyed 100% cotton develops a subtle patina with wear and washing over time, becoming more personal rather than declining in quality. That combination is what makes the garment-dyed tee the piece a customer comes back to reorder.
